All of us travel junkies are getting pretty restless as we wait for the world to open it’s arms to us again, but if you happen to be in Australia, you have a unique opportunity to get back into the skies for a very cool experience, with no passport and no quarantine required!
Qantas has just announced the “Great Southern Land Scenic Flight”, which will allow a limited number of passengers to book a seat on one of Qantas’ Boeing 787 Dreamliners, for a scenic flight with low level fly-bys of several of Australia’s most iconic attractions.
The 7 hour flight will leave Sydney on October 10, 2020 and will fly over Queensland, the Northern Territory, and New South Wales with up close looks from above at the Great Barrier Reef, Uluru, Kata Tjuta, the Whitsundays, Byron Bay, Sydney Harbour, Bondi Beach and much more. Qantas also promises several surprises along the way.
Pricing for this unique flight will be $787 for economy class, $1787 for premium economy, and $3787 for business class. All passengers will enjoy breakfast in the Sydney Domestic Qantas Business Lounge, onboard lunch, an amenity kit including pajamas, a gift bag, a commemorative flight certificate, and will be able to participate in an onboard live auction of original and limited Qantas 747 memorabilia.
Oh how I wish I were in Australia!
You better hurry over to Qantas.com if you have any interest, as there will be only 104 economy, 24 premium economy, and 6 business class tickets sold on a first come first serve basis. Make sure to use Qantas’ Australian website to look for the deal, which I have linked to here, as I don’t think you will find it on the U.S. site.
The Wrap Up
Wow! The price is a little steep, but what a fun experience this will be for a small group of people. Airlines have to be creative these days to generate revenue, and kudos to Qantas for an amazing idea that should have no problem selling out. You’ll definitely want a window seat for this one to maximize the experience!
