I don’t know if it’s the best value in the world, but let me lay out the case, and see where we end up.
Consider All This –
We arrived in Bali from Singapore at about 8:30 in the evening, so the plan was to stay the first night at the Hilton Garden Inn Bali, Ngurah Rai Airport, before heading to the Conrad Bali the next day.
It was a short taxi ride from the airport, and when we arrived I was blown away by how nice the hotel was. It’s worth mentioning that there is a complimentary shuttle to and from the airport, but after walking around for several minutes looking for the pickup/drop off point, we decided to just jump in a taxi.
We were only spending one night here, so while we weren’t there long, we did get a good taste of what the hotel had to offer.
The lobby and restaurant area were spacious and very appealing to the eye. The hotel staff were extremely friendly, as we have found locals to be throughout Bali.
Twin Room, 2 Single Beds, Pool View
We were upgraded from a standard Twin Room to a Pool View room which was nice sized, and the beds were quite comfortable. The pool view would have been nice had we been there longer. A little disappointed there wasn’t a balcony to sit out on.
As a Hilton Honors Diamond, the complimentary breakfast in the Garden Grille Restaurant was simply amazing, with a huge buffet of endless choices. If you are paying for the breakfast, the cost would be 181,500 IDR, or about $13.
The one drawback that we found, was that the WiFi was troublesome. Since we had to work through the night, it was a pain having to switch between the two open networks to get a decent signal. I don’t know if this is a common problem at this hotel, but it’s worth keeping in mind especially if you need to work as we did.
We didn’t get a chance to use the pool, but it was a beautiful resort style, with plenty of loungers.
We also didn’t get out around the area at all since we were just here overnight, but many of the attractions and nightlife are just a short inexpensive Grab ride or complimentary shuttle away.
I booked this hotel for $39 + tax during one of Hilton’s many 35% off sales, and that seems almost too good to be true. I see future dates in the $60-65 range, but even that could be a bargain. The Hilton Asia Pacific sales seem to come around fairly often, so if you are heading to Bali, you could grab a real nice bargain during one of these sales.
Potentially $20 per Night!
For those looking to use points, this hotel can be booked for an amazing 5,000 Hilton Honors points per night. If you were to buy points during one of the many Hilton points sales for .005 cents each, this would be the equivalent of $25 per night. Just amazing, but consider the fact that Hilton Honors elite members can get every 5th night free on an award stay, and that brings the cost for this hotel down to 4,000 HH points per night or $20, if you stayed in increments of 5 nights!
The Wrap Up
Bali can be cheap in general, and there are many more exotic resorts that you can spend your time at, but considering the comfort and the cost, the Hilton Garden Inn Bali, Ngurah Rai Airport is worth a look as your homebase on your next Bali trip. If you are a Hilton Honors Gold or Diamond, add in the excellent free breakfast for 2 each morning, and if you paid with points it becomes almost a free room. This might be the best hotel bargain on the planet!
